Taiko Drumming (Minawa)

The sounds of taiko drumming resounding from our signature Kagura Hall

Guests at Minawa can try playing a taiko drum at our signature Kagura Hall, the pavillion surrounded by water outside the dining area. You will be instructed by members of Doshin taiko troupe, a group that travels throughout Kumamoto and Japan giving taiko performances. We're confident that even first-timers will fully enjoy the experience that is taiko drumming. The activity ends with participants playing one of Doshin's songs along with children of the Minamiaso junior taiko team.

Intuitive and fun, even for beginners

Bamboo taiko drums produce a pleasant sound when struck even by inexperienced players. Drumming easier to get started with than trying to play another instrument, and is more fun and exhilarating than exercising. Taiko drumming uses the whole body, so it's great for burning excess calories and relieving stress. Feeling out the rhythm of the drum beat and playing along in time is sure to leave you with a great sense of satisfaction.
Finally, the Minawa Kagura Hall has great acoustics that allow the sound to echo and boost the impact of your newfound drumming skills. Try your hand at taiko drumming to refresh both mind and body.
