Soba Making

Nothing tastier than soba you've made! Even first-timers can make a delicious dish!

Minamiaso is a cool highland region with excellent groundwater. This makes it an ideal place to make high-quality soba noodles. This activity lets you make authentic local-style soba using flour that has been hand-ground using a stone mill. One of the veteran soba-maker staff accompanies each party of visitors, helping everyone from children to the elderly make delicious noodles, even if they've never cooked in their life!

Enjoy your freshly-made soba

The fun and quirky staff expertly guide you through the process of rolling, stretching, folding, and cutting the raw soba dough. The finished noodles can be boiled in the restaurant kitchen and eaten on site (or taken home for a small container fee). You may end up with some rather thick noodles your first time, as making them thin takes experience, but they'll taste good all the same and the thickness will remind you that you made them. The entire activity should take about 40 minutes. Aprons and everything you need are available, so you can show up without notice if you're in the mood for soba! Alternatively, feel free to just stop by for a meal at the restaurant or to buy souvenirs.
